PCSO 6861 Sam Trantom
Drug dealing Road Safety General ASB
Drugs The team update from August was that the team were planning two premises search warrants. Both addresses have now been dealt with. The first involved an address on Upper Tichborne Street. A male was arrested and has been released under investigation. This led to further enquiries which led to the arrest of a male from the Dawn Centre for being concerned in the supply of Class B drugs. He has also been interviewed and release under investigation. Clearly dealing has been taken place and it's now the investigation phase. The second address has resulted in the discovery of over 200 cannabis plants on Saxby Street and a vehicle seized used in crime. This was an organised gang that has been severely disrupted but unfortunately no arrests were made at the time. Information is key for us to build the intelligence picture. We are working in tandem with our Neighbourhood Priority Team (NPT) about another address and hope we can demonstrate further success in trying to address drug dealing on the beat. Remember, you can report to Crimestoppers www.crimestoppers-uk.org 0800 555111 or their youth service Fearless.
ASB PCSO Trantom took part in the patch walk on 15th October for over two hours which was attended by a host of partners and four members of the public. A whole range of ASB concerns were discussed. LCC’s Planning confirmed that the hostel on St James Road changed in 2019 to two 7-bedroom properties. This is the address we are supporting via Leicester’s Homelessness Charter. Following on from our own meetings with management and CRASBU, Cllr Mohammed will arrange a multi-agency meeting (Planning, Adult Social Care, Community Safety, and ourselves) to determine next steps as we seek improvement due to demand. Other topics covered included street cleansing, traffic enforcement, red routes, PSPO updates, and general council matters. A third ‘pod camera’ has been secured for funding but the necessity for pod cameras on Abingdon Road and Evington Road remains. Please do report any ASB issues through to us via 101 or by emailing communitysafety@leicester.gov.uk
Road Safety We updated in September that the team has been trained in the more sophisticated Trucam 2. As previously explained, this equipment has the capability to ‘monitor’ traffic speeds. This allows a single officer to assess road speed and determine if streets are problematic with speeding and provides data to support or disprove such. PC Woolley has been out there this past month doing this and has been on Evington Lane in particular. We have listened that the area connected to the ‘way roads’ has been deemed a race track at times. We need to work out the key times and then move to enforcement. We know through Councillor Mohammed’s feedback that residents remain concerned about speeding in the Way Roads area. PCSO Trantom is gathering statistics to explore traffic calming measures
